Internet Retailer & Yahoo! Store Blog Features FastPivot's Custom Facebook Contest App. Built for eCreamery

When we first published the ecommerce success story, showcasing the Facebook contest app. custom-built for eCreamery‘s icecream contest, we knew this was big news, but had no idea it would gain the attention of national web media so quickly.

The article, “eCreamery Lures Shoppers With a Contest” by Zak Stambor debuted on Internet Retailer’s news website on March 3, 2011, only weeks after our ecommerce success story was released. One quote from eCreamery’s c0-founder, Becky App, stands out because it illustrates what makes this contest different from other Facebook contests:

…she didn’t want consumers to enter the contest on Facebook and never visit eCreamery.com because that would be a lost opportunity to make a sale, she says. Rather she wanted the contest to live on her site and have links on Facebook that led back to her site. “It’s a huge advantage to have the contest take place on my web site rather than on Facebook,” she says.

On the very same day, Jennifer Farwell, a writer for the Yahoo! Store Blog, rolled out this article “Yahoo Merchant eCreamery Scoops Up Customers With Contest.” Though it basically summarized the aforementioned story, the most poignant point it pulled from IR’s coverage was in regards to contest results:

An Internet Retailer article posted earlier today explains how, using an application developed by FastPivot, eCreamery lets its customers create their own ice cream flavors and share these flavors with their friends on Facebook.

The result, according to eCreamery co-founder Becky App, was site traffic that rose 30% year-over-year in February, and sales that increased by 40%, which she says may be partially because of the contest. More than 600 contest entries have been received since the contest was launched, with an average of five Facebook “Likes” per submission.
